Wheelinsticks

I finally finished all the 9-patches. Everyone of them came from a recycled men's dress shirt. Here are the rest of the patches. I cut most of the other pieces for the different units. This should come together nicely once I start getting the star points on and the orange sashing. Here we go...

9 patches group 4 Originally uploaded by knittingkim Spring time! I needed some brighter colors to add to my 9-patches. My squares are looking more and more crisp. Hopefully by next weekend I will be putting this together into the 10" inch blocks. 32 blocks and counting!

9 patches group 3 Originally uploaded by knittingkim Mint Chocolat Chip nine patches. I an enjoying continuing to make 9 patches. I need to add to my collection of men's shirt, so I can continue with the variety of patchwork. I'm a little over half way with the number of patches that I need. Once I finish the 9 patches I will add the rest of the units to make the squares into the Sister's Choice blocks. I'm thinking some tans, orange or reds.

Kati's baby blanket Originally uploaded by knittingkim This was a really quick and fun blanket. I found a tutorial through Google. Actually, there were several, so I don't remember which one I used. Anyway a 2 1/2 yards of flannel and an hour on the machine, bam! Blanket. I also played around with a fancy stitch around the edge of where the center meets the binding. I messed up the corners, so I angled them. I think it gives it an interesting twist.

nine patches Originally uploaded by knittingkim Hmm... there seems to be a pattern... nine patches. They are fun to make and quick. Plus it makes me work on accuracy. I am working on a quilt using recycled men's shirts. Bonnie Hunter uses a lot of old shirts to make quilt just like our ancestors did at one time or another. The fabric is so incredibly soft. I can see making another quilt with some really thick batting for the winter. I have a variety of shirts, so there will be more nines...

pralines and cream borders Originally uploaded by knittingkim Funny as it sounds, this is a really true statrement. This is the second set that I have to try. The first was a pretty green floral that I thought would make the colors of the creams and carmels pop. Uh not ! This is much better. The plan is a smaller dark brown border as the inner, and the floral as a larger outer border. I think it will look wonderful. Perfect harmony.

Noah's quilt Originally uploaded by knittingkim A quilt guild friend gave me this Noah fabric last month, and I started a little baby quilt. I thought a rich, deep red with the filler background set in nine patches would be lovely against the Ark fussy cuts. I need to add a dark blue border along the edges to finish it off. I think it will be about 40 inches by 45 inches or so. Now to consider the quilting.

Cousin 52 Originally uploaded by knittingkim I am slowly working on this. It is a bit bigger then this now. The colors of the handspun range from a pale yellow to grey to several shades of blue. So far the striping is looking great. Fingers crossed it continues!
